Student board members play a vital role in bringing the student perspective into district leadership, ensuring that student voices are heard in decisions that shape their education. They provide insight into district policies, making a real impact on their schools and community.
This role empowers students to actively engage in the decision-making process, develop valuable leadership and civic skills, and advocate for their peers.
What Do Student Representatives Do?
As a Student Representative to the Board of Education, you will:
Communicate with Students: Keep your peers informed about board actions and decisions that impact them.
Advocate for Student Interests: Gather student concerns, opinions, and ideas to present to the board, ensuring student perspectives are considered in decision-making.
Attend Board Meetings: Participate in all school board meetings to stay informed and provide student input on policies, programs, and decisions affecting students. Students are urged to carefully weigh this opportunity alongside their other academic and extracurricular activities, as board meeting attendance and participation are a must.
