Mrs. Ramirez, kindergarten class, has planted beets, radishes, carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkin, yellow squash, sunflowers, pepper, and jicama. For the fall, starting in August, we hope to plant, beets, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, turnips, and snow peas.
Marshall has partnered with the Modesto Garden Club which provides funding for the garden. We have Pat Logan, a Master Gardener, who provides ongoing garden advice. Also, we have partnered with Home Depot.
Daniel Torres, Marshall Head Custodian, has been great with his ongoing support and care of the garden. Thank you, Daniel.
Ms. Laura, with our after-school program, has started lots of varied plants with her students. Ms. Turpitt, a combo teacher, and Mrs. Garcia, a sixth-grade teacher also have projects going.
As one of the kindergartners asked after we had planted the seeds, only about an hour earlier, “How much did the plant grow?” We hope to always be able to answer, “The plant, and especially you, grow greatly every day at Marshall School.”
